Where supportive living tends to work in SLC

We look for residential streets with quiet rhythms, sidewalks that are actually used, and neighbors who do not turn over every six months. Neighborhoods that have worked for our placements and the people we know who run similar homes:

  • Sugar House — established residential streets with walking access to grocery, pharmacy, library, and a substantial park.
  • The Avenues — historical residential character on a grid, quiet streets above South Temple, walkable to U of U Health for residents with frequent medical appointments.
  • Liberty Wells / Ballpark / Central Ninth — flat, walkable, transit-served, with a mix of single-family homes that fit our model.
  • Rose Park / Fairpark — affordable single-family stock with strong neighborhood connections; close to Jordan River Parkway for walking.
  • East Bench (foothills, Bonneville) — quieter streets with proximity to the U and to the foothill trails for residents who walk regularly.

What is nearby for our residents

Salt Lake City has the strongest amenity density in our service area. Within most SLC neighborhoods, residents have walking, biking, or short-drive access to:

  • Medical: University of Utah Hospital, Intermountain LDS Hospital, multiple PCPs and specialty clinics
  • Transit: TRAX Blue, Red, and Green Lines; UTA bus network with broad coverage
  • Day program access: Aspen day program participation works well for SLC-based residents who can use TRAX with light support
  • Recreation: Liberty Park, Sugar House Park, Memorial Park, Jordan River Parkway, Bonneville Shoreline Trail
  • Community: public libraries with strong programming, multiple community centers, accessible recreation programming through Salt Lake County

When SLC is not the right answer

Not every resident does well in a denser environment. If your person needs a quieter setting, less foot traffic, or more outdoor space, neighborhoods further south (Sandy, South Jordan, Riverton) often fit better. Talk to us about what a typical day looks like for the person, and we will tell you honestly which city or neighborhood we think would work.
